Art of Growing Club- Autumn walk with Charlotte Mew

30 September, 2010  |  Featured, Public Programme, Uncategorized

Blackberries picked
still eyes are peeled
Digging up stories
our lips are sealed

Mind your own business
paves the way
Keep off the carpet
it seems to say

Along the road 196B
a welcome addition for one maybe
Liquorice lace unwinds to chew
a large polished ball reflects the view

Sycamore keys wing their way
Lime leaves and russet cheer up the grey

A flush of peach roses
crazy paving
A face at the window
someone is waving

Pegs line up and overlook
(grown by hand without a book)
Rockery with a life of its own
handiwork inspired by Joan

The Art of Growing Club- visit to the allotments

Ones lot in life

A hidden gem in amongst the lettuces and kingsize cabbages

Find green peppers in the greenhouse

Collect your thoughts and late potatoes

Rhubarb overtakes

While sweet corn is taken over by squirrels

Parsley waits to be picked

Lucky horseshoe turns up to remind you to kick off your shoes

Soil is upturned as Autumn steps in

Purple Petunias and blooming Geraniums

Rise up and overflow

Fish in vats of water forget

While Jo remembers she can draw

Roses climb over

Apples and pears

Abandoned chairs

Wait to be seated

Fred is at ease undefeated

pleased and proud of his lot

Help yourself to plump tomatoes

Rusty leaves now swept up
