Sarah Kate Wilson
I graduated from my MFA (Painting) Slade School of Art, in 2010 and received my practice based PhD from the University of Leeds in 2017 (AHRC funded). I am a lecturer in BA Painting at Camberwell College of the Arts, UAL.
I make ‘live’ paintings, my works refuse stasis, in a variety of ways; through collaboration, performance, and the selection of particular materials. I have staged my painting performances with the London based choral ensemble MUSARC at Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2017) and for the opening of the new Royal Academy London campus (2018). This Spring I will be undertaking a research residency in Germany at the Bauhaus Building Dessau, a UNESCO site.
Recent solo exhibitions include _GIFTS_, SKELF Site, online (2018), ‘Iris’, BALTIC 39 | FIGURE THREE, Newcastle (2016), _PART 9: EXPANDING ON AN EXPANSIVE SUBJECT_. Armory Center For the Arts, Pasadena, California, USA (2015). I was _SHORTLISTED FOR THE 2016 JERWOOD PAINTING FELLOWSHIPS_, and nominated for the inaugural_ ‘MKCF 2014 NEW CITY PRIZE FOR THE VISUAL ARTS’_ partnership with Milton Keynes Gallery and was included in the _2012 JERWOOD DRAWING PRIZE_.
Alongside my studio practice I have a curatorial practice, in 2015 – 2016 I curated _PAINTING IN __TIME_ which toured from Tetley, Leeds to The Sullivan Galleries, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, USA. Artists included: Polly Apfelbaum, Debo Eilers, Yoko Ono, Kristina Buch, Lisa Milroy, Hayley Tompkins and Jessica Warboys. The show was reviewed in The _Journal of Contemporary Painting_ by Nadine Feinson.
