This is a beginners/intermediate ceramic course that will continue to explore different hand building, glazing and decorating techniques .
It is a hands on experience and participants will make at least one finished piece to take home.
During the 4 weeks we will experiment as well as revise some traditional ceramic techniques: printing, carving, coiling, pinching, press molding and slab building. Each participant will be focusing on they own project while gaining some new skills. Alongside these practical exercises we will also learn the basic theory behind the alchemic process of glazing and firing the clay in the kiln. On the second and third week we will collectively make 3 glazes from scratch, experimenting with different oxides and understanding the process in practice.

The course will be taught by Paulina Michnowska, an artist who creates visual allegories in clay. These are often humourous, rooted in autobiographical anecdotes, historical folklore and the dullness of mundanity. Please book directly with Paulina. Payment must be made before places can be confirmed.
