Chisenhale Art Place Members (Chisenhale Studios, Chisenhale Gallery and Chisenhale Dance Space) opened the doors for a free weekend of open studios, exhibition, performance and events.  Thanks to everyone who joined us, we found it very inspiring and rewarding and feedback tells us visitors did too!

The activities that took place included

Open Studios:
Most of our 40 artists were in their studios throughout the weekend, discussing their work and enjoying many a great conversation with visitors.

And the Studios at Chisenhale Dance Space were open for visitors to see live rehearsals on Saturday and Sunday.

Group exhibition:
Emerging artists from our inaugural professional development programme ‘Into the Wild’ held a group show in Studios 2 & 4, curated by Emma Warburton and Bar Yerushulmi. Special performances were also held on Friday night in the main studio at Chisenhale Dance Space.

Exhibitions of community artwork by:
Shutter Nutters
A collection of photographs from members of this user-led mental health photography group, that regularly use Chisenhale Studios Education Room as their base to discuss and develop their work.

Chisenhale Primary School
A selection of work was exhibited from Chisenhale Primary School students who have taken part in the National Arts Awards, led by local artist Sara Heywood. The programme aims to inspire young people to grow their arts and leadership talents: it’s creative, valuable and accessible and we’re proud to be involved.

Plus some hands-on workshops led by studio artists:
Dry point printing workshop with Kate Hardy
Portrait workshop with Vincent Milne
Artist talk by Alina Kisina
Tempura Painting workshop with Joy Girvin

Chisenhale Gallery was open extra hours, showing the current exhibition by Jumana Manana. A special screening was held on Saturday, with introductory talk and discussion.
