A new work by studio member David Blackmore will be on show in the Studio 4 Exhibition during this years Open Weekend. The work is available in an edition of 50. The work was made in response to an invitation to alter a blank bookmark by Nuts and Bolts Publishing (North Manchester) and was printed by Folium.

Working across painting, printing, textile assemblage, collage and weaving, shifting between traditional and digital media, my practice converges times and technologies, assembling the past within the present. Through an archive of reproductions I investigate a material presence (and the absence of things) of our times- living in an age of the ‘re’.
The images and processes in my work are linked by my pre-occupation with loss and the ruin in visual culture through the circulation, saturation and degradation of files.

Currently showing at Bobinska Browlee New River, 36 Gt. Pulteney St, with solo show ‘Borrowed Time’ until 8/6, in conversation with Rosalind Davis- 1/6, 3pm.

‘Landscape of Chance’ inaugural show with SLQS gallery opening 30/5, 56 Conduit St. In conversation with Damaris Athene- 2/6, 3pm.

Pigments and inks from materials found at 195 Mare Street, on paper with Japanese tissue collage

Sam Hodge works with paint and print to find out what materials do and what tales they tell. She picks up things that she encounters in her local environment or on walks around the uncertain coastal edges of England and they make their way into her work. Earths, plants and human debris are transformed into pigments and inks and encouraged to make their mark on paper, while ambiguous forms of disintegrating pieces of rubbish are transferred onto paper using printmaking processes.

Some of her recent work will be on display in studio 33A and in the Studio 4 group exhibition.

Track Record (How I Learned to Stop Worrying 1945-2024), Portable record player, 12” Vinyl picture disc, Audio 15:42mins

This audio composition is a musical account of every (officially recorded) nuclear detonation from 1945 - present day.
The outcome is something lingering between free jazz and the end of the world.

New photographs, from an upcoming publication, ‘O Zero’, will be on show alongside Lee Maelzer’s large scale dystopian paintings.

His long-form photographic work ‘We | Photographs from Russia 1996-2017’, published in two volumes by Kerber, Berlin [2019 & 2022] and launched at the Photographers’ Gallery London is a timely reminder of humanity, celebrating friendship, communality and kindness.

‘Heaven Swallowed the Smoke’

Currently at G37 Galerie, Berlin - ‘How Long is Forever’ exhibition.

Henrietta Armstrong specialises in sculpture, installation and public art. This installation evokes the remnants of an unfinished ritual, questioning the historical authenticity and gruesome nature of sacred objects. Interweaving themes of witchcraft, charms and apotropaic practices, viewers are asked to reflect on the complex dynamics of symbols, rituals and shifting perceptions that shape human belief systems.

Lee Maelzer. b. London. Foundation & BA at Central St Martins College of Art, MA at the Royal College of Art. She works primarily on large oil paintings but also makes smaller works, drawings, collages and occasionally experiments with video and stop motion film. Her work is exhibited and collected internationally. New pictures will be on show at the Open Studios alongside John Peter Askew in studio 39.

He is a founder member of Chisenhale Artplace. Achieved a M.A. degree in Fine Art from Goldsmiths College. Exhibitions include The Summer Exhibition, The Royal Academy of Arts, Geometry and Colour, The Poussin Gallery 2008, and many others. His work is represented in the collections of Paul Smith Ltd, Derwent London, and Coca Cola.
