Seeds for Growth
Chisenhale Art Place is supporting Seeds for Growth to deliver community growing workshops in collaboration with Advance UK.
Established in 2006, Seeds for Growth (SFG) is a registered charity committed to improving the quality of life for individuals in disadvantaged communities, primarily in London's East End. They address cultural, social, and health issues by creating inspiring pathways for progression through the use of arts, technology, and action learning.
SFG’s primary focus is on enhancing health and well-being, and facilitating access to outdoor community spaces. They envision a world where everyone enjoys optimal health, well-being, and fitness. Their work is guided by their unwavering commitment to inclusiveness, participation, quality, and openness. SFG’s objectives include:
Promoting the educational advancement of individuals in disadvantaged communities to improve their social, health, and economic circumstances.
Providing support for unemployed individuals, fostering increased self-confidence to facilitate their entry into the workforce or the establishment of their own businesses.
Enhancing health by offering dietary information, identifying local sources of fresh food, and promoting exercise.
Advocating for the conservation, protection, and improvement of the physical and natural environment, while encouraging recycling and sustainability practices.
Creating training materials that aid in the rehabilitation of current and former offenders.
English for Action London
Chisenhale Art Place has developed a new partnership with EFA London.
English for Action (EFA London) is a capacity building and education charity that directly supports over 450 adult migrants, refugees and people seeking asylum across Greater London each year. They specialise in working with migrants with low levels of English, and use free, weekly English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses as a stepping stone to identifying and addressing other areas in which their students need support (i.e. building civic participation and other life skills). ESOL’s qualified teachers live and work in the communities in which they serve, and since their founding in 2006, ESOL have built strong ties to local schools, places of worship, and community centres.
