ABOUT US
Chisenhale Art Place is an arts education charity in East London. Occupying a former factory on Chisenhale Road, it is home to three distinct initiatives: two independent arts organisations; Chisenhale Dance Space and Chisenhale Gallery; and Chisenhale Studios which comprises 40 artist studios.
Chisenhale Gallery was founded by artists. The same spirit of possibility that changed an empty veneer factory into an art gallery guides its work today. Chisenhale Gallery commissions and produces contemporary art, supporting international and UK-based artists to make their most ambitious work to date.
Chisenhale Studios offer secure affordable workspace to visual artists at all stages of their career. The work of the Studio artists reflects the diversity of contemporary art practice and promotes a wider public understanding of artistic processes through its programming.
Chisenhale Dance Space is an artist-led organisation supporting experimentation in dance and performance, and an affordable home for the independent dance community. Chisenhale Dance offers on-site classes, artist development and support, and a boundary-pushing performance programme.
CAP’s Board of Trustees act to ensure the smooth and compliant running of the organisation and that the charitable aims & objectives are met. Our two Member organisations, Chisenhale Dance Space and Chisenhale Gallery, are independently managed with their own Boards of Trustees. A representative from each also sits on CAP’s Board of Trustees along with elected artists from Chisenhale Studios. They join other trustees who bring professional expertise in fields such as Finance, Fundraising, Property, HR and the Environment.
We are a company limited by guarantee (no.01615990) and a registered charity (no. 285125) established to promote art education.
