Chisenhale’s Future Artists 2024 is a family friendly programme aimed at ages 6+ and their adults who want to explore their creativity together. For last years theme, we focused on empowering and inspiring as many young people as we can to embark on their own creative journey.
Family Open Day

Chisenhale Art Place invites you and your family to a fun-filled, art-packed day celebrating culture and community in Bow this Spring. Take part in interactive art & dance workshops and meet artists connected to our three organisations: Chisenhale Gallery, Chisenhale Studios, and Chisenhale Dance Space.
What's on offer
Dance workshops and performances including contemporary and South-Asian dance.
Community picnic - free light lunch including samosas by Deshi Shad, bagels, fruit and juice.
The chance to visit 40 artists' studios, learn about their work and take part in an interactive treasure hunt.
A SEN quiet hour for those who need it (So we can best accomodate you, please email andy@chisenhale.co.uk to RSVP)
Guided tours of the latest exhibition at Chisenhale Gallery by Turner Prize nominee Rory Pilgrim, plus drop-in workshops for all ages

Summer Academy
Chisenhale Studios worked alongside Tower Hamlets Youth League @towerhamletsnow to deliver a Summer Academy as part of our Future Artists programme, inviting young people to take part in creative activities across 5 days over the last month.
The first session saw Chisenhale Art Place deliver an introductory making session at @bromley_by_bow_centre at their Summer Festival of Wellbeing. A massive thanks to BBB for hosting us on the day!
The second session invited young people to engage with a dance workshop at @chisenhaledance led by Astha Desai through @pagravdanceco, before moving on to a weaving workshop led by @cecilylj and @renrrnren at Chisenhale Studios. Thank you to our fantastic facilitators for making this happen and providing a nourishing experience for all of the young people attending.
The third session saw Chisenhale Studios deliver a curators tour of @whitechapelgallery 's latest exhibitions, followed by a t-shirt making workshop led by Chisenhale Studios artists @kirsty_harris_art.
The fourth session invited young people to engage with a painting workshop at on Victoria Park, just over the road from @allpointseastuk, led by Chisenhale Studios artist @diana_taylor_studio.
The fifth and final session saw Chisenhale Art Place deliver a introductory photography workshop led by @gabulaurent, inviting young people to take and work into self portraits taken using polaroid photography. The students were then invited to engage in a dance workshop at @chisenhaledance.

Street Party 2024
Our joint street party taking place on Chisenhale Road was an afternoon of fun, creativity, performances and community. All activities were free to attend and available on a drop-in basis.
Street Party activities included:
Caribbean dance workshop with Sheba Montserrat
Classical Indian dance performance 'Empathy' with live music from Mukul and Ghetto Tigers
Live music and DJ sets
Cyanotype workshops with Sara Heywood
Collage workshop with Charlotte Mew
Rangoli painting and block printing workshops with Shree Desai
Raffle
Free exhibition at Chisenhale Gallery by artist Simnikiwe Buhlungu
Community stalls with activities
Communal picnic - bring your own food and drink to take part.
A huge thank you to everyone who participated and performed. Special thanks to our wonderful producer @sophiethompsonsemple for bringing the vision to life, and to Action for Bow and the Driffield Conservation Area Residents Association for their vital support in making this day possible.
Over the course of the day, we had upwards of 800 visitors, making this the most successful community event C.A.P as a whole has ever delivered.
