Chisenhale Art Place is a unique centre for artists, art production, education, performance and exhibition. Located next to the canal, close to Victoria Park, Chisenhale Art Place has occupied the former veneer factory and brewery buildings on Chisenhale Road since 1980. It provides a supportive workplace and vibrant public platform for London’s East End art community, local and international audiences.  We are currently looking for volunteers to support delivery of the public programme.

Film Project taking place at a primary school in Tower Hamlets

This project introduces children to the world of film making, giving them the opportunity to make decisions about the process at every level.  The children explore all aspects of film making from start to finish, from script writing to story boarding to acting the parts.  They also experience every crew role, from director and camera person to clapperboard.

The project has been led by film artist Lisa Nash over the last five years, with support from Chisenhale Art Place, Help a Capital Child and most importantly, from the School itself who is now funding it directly.   The school strongly values the use of art to embrace the learning process and is very keen to have film as a continuing presence. The projects have had a very positive impact on school life, including parental involvement.  This is fueled by the children’s excitement and pride in the work they are producing, which brings record attendance from parents participating and attending screenings.

We are now looking for someone to help support the lead artist in delivering this project over one school term. This is a great opportunity for an artist to take part in a highly successful project that helps promote the importance of teaching art at primary school level. It will especially benefit those who would like to become involved in delivering educational projects themselves.

Dates and Times
Every Monday during the spring term, starting 11th Jan through to March 19th excluding half term (week of 15th Feb).
9am – 4.30pm

Volunteer Assistant for Saturday Art classes for Children

We run regular family art workshops most Saturday mornings during term time.
The workshops are delivered by a different artist each month and encourage children and parents to learn fun new art ideas that they can also do together at home.  These sessions are part of our vibrant and varied public education and outreach programme that responds to the needs of our local community and the wider artistic community.

We are looking for someone to support the lead artist for 2-3 hours on each Saturday, or to develop a pool of volunteers to do so. It’s a good opportunity for art graduates who want to gain experience on how to lead public art workshops and be involved with an art organisation.

Dates and Time
Saturdays during Winter term time (initially)
10am – 1pm
